2024 openKylin Partners & Developers Conference Concludes Successfully!
As time flies, OpenAtom openKylin (referred to as “openKylin”) has successfully navigated another year, side by side with over 800 community partners, 10,000+ developers, and 2 million+ users. Looking back at the past year, the community has gathered forces from all sectors to promote development, sparking collaboration and laying the foundation for an open-source operating system ecosystem. Together, we've seen comprehensive growth across openKylin in areas such as performance, user experience, ecosystem integration, and application development.
On December 20, 2024, the openKylin Partners & Developers Annual Conference concluded successfully in Wuhan. The conference aimed to showcase the latest progress in community building, share cutting-edge open-source operating system technologies, and explore future trends in the industry alongside our partners and developers.
In the presence of numerous community partners, Zhu Chen, Chair of the openKylin Committee, announced the official release of openKylin 2.0 SP1. This version marks the first enhancement in the 2.0 series and introduces an AI subsystem along with a range of system-level AI features, such as the Kylin AI Assistant, Intelligent Image-to-Text, Smart Clipboard, and Intelligent Fuzzy Search. It continues to evolve based on user feedback and demands.
The update supports a variety of AIPC hardware platforms, including Intel's 14th-generation Meteor Lake, CIX Technology's P1, and Zhaoxin's KX-7000, unlocking additional computing power and expanding the AI ecosystem. A key highlight of this release is the support for hardware architectures, such as the build and release of foundational software sources of ARM and LoongArch, greatly enriching openKylin's hardware ecosystem.
Additionally, over 600 bugs that impacted user experience have been fixed, covering critical modules such as the AI Assistant, UKUI Desktop Environment, installation process, and display settings. These improvements significantly enhance system stability and user experience!
During the conference, a diverse range of organizations, universities, and individual developers shared their insights on topics such as AIPC, cybersecurity, and talent development. Samuel Kargbo, Vice Leader of the Sierra Leone User Group for openKylin, delivered a thought-provoking presentation titled “Open Source Knows No Borders: My Journey from Sierra Leone to openKylin.”00
The growth and success of the openKylin community would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of every contributor. During the conference, openKylin recognized outstanding organizations, teams, and individuals who have made significant contributions to the community over the past year. Their collective efforts continue to fuel the community’s development with fresh energy and enthusiasm.
