openKylin 2.0 SP1 Official Release!
On December 20, 2024, the OpenAtom openKylin (hereafter referred to as "openKylin") officially released the 2.0 SP1 version!
As the first enhanced release in the openKylin 2.0 series, this update is the result of collaborative efforts by contributors from the global community. Building upon the openKylin 2.0 version, the 2.0 SP1 update brings a solid upgrade to the kernel, ensuring compatibility with the latest hardware platforms and peripherals, including sound cards, network cards, graphics cards, and Bluetooth devices. Additionally, it has completed the construction and release of foundational software sources for ARM and LoongArch architectures, and introduces universal images for both ARM and LoongArch platforms, significantly expanding openKylin’s hardware support.
Moreover, openKylin 2.0 SP1 has resolved over 600 bugs that were affecting user experience, addressing core modules such as the AI assistant, UKUI desktop environment, installation process, display, and more. These fixes greatly improve the system’s stability and overall user experience. We invite everyone to download and explore the new release!
openKylin 2.0 SP1 continues to feature the openKylin 6.6 kernel, which incorporates over 16,000 patches from upstream kernel communities. It also integrates more than 200 patches from key hardware manufacturers, including Intel, Phytium, Loongson, Zhaoxin, and Glenfly. This ensures full support for the latest mainstream hardware platforms as well as peripherals such as sound cards, network cards, graphics cards, and Bluetooth devices.
With openKylin 2.0 SP1, hardware architecture support has been officially extended. In collaboration with leading industry partners such as Phytium, CIX Technology, and Loongson, openKylin now includes ARM universal and LoongArch architecture image versions. This update adds support for the latest hardware platforms, including the Loongson 3A6000 series processors, Phytium D3000 series processors, and CIX Technology's P1 series processors.
The openKylin 2.0 series officially introduces a unified RISC-V architecture image. Along with the RISC-V image flashing tool, this update supports installation on four platforms: VisionFive2, LicheePi4a, Milk-v-pioneer, and spacemit K1. Additional platform support will be added in future updates, addressing the long-standing issue of RISC-V architecture image fragmentation.
